Here are a few words from owners Tim and Heather Kaufman,
"In December of 2019, Heather and I opened Flourish mainly to teach free classes to the community about the whole food plant-based lifestyle because we had seen the power of healthy food after losing almost 300 pounds together, and more importantly, eliminating many chronic illnesses. The plan was to sell some real fruit smoothies, hummus, and locally roasted coffee to pay the lease and break even. Our classes were a huge success, and the community was enjoying classes on everything from air fryers to making oil-free salad dressings. Then Covid hit and everything came to a screeching halt. Our “Community Room” took on more of a kitchen look and we started making healthy, scratch-made meals for pickup. Our customers loved them, and we were selling out faster than we could make them. We added a small staff and stayed only open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We are beyond grateful for the endless support of this community and our customers. Thousands of customers have enjoyed our smoothies and although it wasn’t our intention, we have served up well over 20,000 healthy meals to the community from our little shop on Broadway. We have soups, chili, overnight oats, sandwiches, and baked goods that are all minimally processed and made from plants and are free of refined sugar and oil."
Some words from the individual who nominated them:
"Tim and Heather Kaufman have a wonderful Vegan Cafe in Lancaster. They have donated meals during the pandemic and are all-around great people. Their back story about why they became vegan and then started this cafe is amazing. It's based on all plants, no oils. Really deserves to be highlighted".
